Every year, the Consuro team comes together for a holiday celebration like no other. Sure, we have a gift exchange, we feast on tenderloin tamales from Reata and sip on some adult beverages. But it’s our giving tradition that sets us apart. Each year, we kick off the party by all jumping on a limo bus with our spouses and head to Target to purchase gifts for local children and families through Lena Pope’s Adopt an Angel program. We purchase everything from books to clothes and toys to toiletries, keeping in mind the child’s list of wants and needs for the holiday season.
Lena Pope is a non-profit organization in our hometown of Fort Worth, Texas with a rich history in the community. According to lenapope.org, “The mission of Lena Pope is to help create hope, happiness, and success for children and families. When it started in 1930, Lena Pope was a home for orphans and children in need in the Fort Worth area. Lena Pope has evolved to meet the changing needs of our community. Our focus is on empowering families to stay together. We do this by focusing in two major program areas, counseling and education.”
Both our Director Public Relations, Lauren Kwedar Cockerell, and our Director of Sales and Marketing, Courtney Crummel Summers, have served on Lena Pope’s Young Professional Advocates Steering Committee for over a decade. So when it came time to choose a local non-profit to team up with for our annual giving activity, Lena Pope was the perfect fit.
After the festivities, we are able to deliver the gifts to Lena Pope and know that deserving children and families of Fort Worth were able to celebrate with a few extra gifts this holiday season.
A huge thank you to all of our partners, including Lena Pope, Target, and Champion USA Group, for everything you do to make this tradition possible. And thank you to all of the children of Lena Pope for your amazing letters!
